Conversion of BcI - 2 from protector to killer by interaction with nuclear orphan receptor Nur77/TR3

Article Abstract:

The coupling of BCI - 2 with orphan nuclear receptor Nurr77 / TR3 which is required for cancer cell apoptosis is induced by many antineoplastic agents. The findings confirm that BcI - 2 manifests the opposing phenotypes, induced by interactions with Nurr77 protein, thus leading to new strategies to regulate apoptosis in cancer and other diseases.

Two enzymes in one: two yeast peroxiredoxins display oxidative stress-dependent switching from a peroxidase to a molecular chaperone function

Article Abstract:

Two cytosolic yeast peroxiredoxins (Prxs), cPrxl and II with diverse structures and apparent molecular weights, can act alternatively as peroxidases and molecular chaperones. The chaperone function of their protein structures enhances yeast resistance to heat shock.

Yeast Ras regulates the complex that catalyzes the first step in GPI-anchor biosynthesis at the ER

Article Abstract:

A study demonstrates how the yeast Ras uses the ER as a signaling platform from which to negatively regulate the GPI-GnT. The results suggest that diminished GPI-anchor protein production contributes to hyperactive Ras phenotypes.
