Article Abstract:
The vigorous proliferation of Ralstonia solancearum OE1-1 in host intercellular spaces after the invasion of host plants, which is necessary for the virulence of this bacterium, is studied. It is concluded that folate biosynthesis contributes to the vigorous proliferation of bacteria in intercellular spaces and leads to systemic infectivity resulting in virulence.

Article Abstract:
The mechanisms of resistance to oxolinic acid (OA) in Burkholderia glumae field isolates are investigated. The results show that an amino acid substitution at position 83 of GyrA is implicated in OA resistance in field isolates, because among various OA-resistant bacteria only those with a substitution in GyrA might retain the ability to survive on rice plants.

Article Abstract:
A study using the cassette PCR technique to isolate a C23O exhibiting improved activity against 4-mthylcatechol is presented. Cassette PCR is a PCR method that allows a variety of chimeric genes to be isolated without using cloned genes.
