Article Abstract:
Virus-binding protein (VBP) genes from activated sludge bacteria are isolated and the VBP cloning system to produce a mass volume of VBP clines is constructed. VBP cloning would make it possible to produce a mass volume of VBPs and to utilize them as a new material of the specific adsorbent in several technologies, including virus removal, concentration, and detection.

Article Abstract:
A gene of a heavy-metal-binding protein (HMBP) is acquired from a culture of Escherichia coli bacteria derived from activated sludge. The acquired HMBP could be a possible adsorbent for heavy metals in water and wastewater, likely to help in heavy metal removal from contaminated water in water and waste water treatments.
