Construction of a chickpea linkage map and its comparison with maps of pea and lentil

Article Abstract:

The genetic map of chickpea was compared to that of pea and lentil using restriction fragment length polymorphism and random amplified polymorphic DNA techniques. The results revealed that five regions of the integrated genetic linkage map of chickpea contain gene orders that are similar to those found in the pea genome. The lentil genomic DNA, on the other hand, demonstrated a considerable divergence at the sequence level when compared with the chickpea DNA.

Linkage of loci encoding H1 histone and a cotyledon protein in lentil

Article Abstract:

Lens culinaris culinaris (lentil) exhibit polymorphisms with respect to the principal subtypes of the histone H1 and the cotyledon protein FG which is soluble in perchloric acid. Further studies reveal linkage between these two groups of genes with a recombination value ranging from 6.5 to 9.5. The corresponding genes of Pisum sativum (garden pea) were also found to be linked.

Tertiary trisomics in the garden pea as a model of B chromosome evolution in plants

Article Abstract:

Two trisomic lines of the garden pea where extra chromosome (E) was composed of the short arms of chromosomes 3 and 6 are synthesized with the help of Hammarlund translocation T (3-6) a. The tertiary trisomic of pea that regularly appear in the progeny of heterozygotes for Hammarlund T (3-6) a translocation was selected to model the initial steps of B chromosome evolution.
