Article Abstract:
A research was conducted to study the cryptic plasmid pHP489 used as a base replicon to construct plasmid vectors for Helicobacter pylori, to assess whether the shuttle vector could transfer manipulated gene in Escherichia coli into H. pylori. Electroporation was utilized to transform plasmid DNAs into H. pylori while H. pylori was grown on a brucella agar plate. Results showed that E. coli plasmids did not replicate and were not maintained in H. pylori.

Article Abstract:
Escherichia coli K-12 cells may only swim in one direction in a capillary tube with a 6 micrometer diameter. The bacteria in such a tube did not move in a direction parallel to the walls of the tube but were unable to turn around, probably because their flagella were too long and rigid. The bacteria swam at an average speed of 11.4 micrometers per second and rarely turned more than 90 degrees.

Article Abstract:
A simple two-step filtration approach is proposed for enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7 detection in beef through multiplex PCR. The method addressed the inhibition of the PCR by food particles and unknown metabolic byproducts of bacteria. The approach was found to be more effective than other assays in detecting and characterizing Escherichia coli O157:H7 directly from food.
