Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the hemocyte-specific acute phase glycoprotein from the Anopheles gambiae, malaria vector. The characterization of this glycoprotein has been carried out and the results demonstrate functional and structural similarities to the central component of the mammalian component system and to the pan-protease inhibitor.

Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the 15-lipoxygenase expression translationally silenced in the erythroid precursor cells by a mRNA-protein complex. Results demonstrate that the 40S ribosomal subunit can be recruited and scanned to the translation initiation codon when the silencing complex is bound to the 3' untranslated region.

Article Abstract:
Anopheles mosquitoes are major vectors of human malaria in Africa that transmits malaria parasites. The hemocyte-specific complement-like protein TEP1 from mosquito Anopheles gambiae that binds to and mediates killing of midgut stages of the rodent malaria parasite Plasmodium berghei is reported.
