Article Abstract:
The mechanism by which the Salmonella PmrA/PmrB two-component system responds to the signal controlling the PhoP/PhoQ two-component system is reported. The PhoP-activated PmrD protein binds to the phosphorylated form of the response regulator PmrA, preventing both its intrinsic dephosphoylation promoted by its cognate sensor kinase PmrB.

Article Abstract:
Saccharomyces cerevisiae kinetochores are regulated by a type 1 phosphatase, Glc7p. The microtubule-binding activity of the kinetochore complex is controlled by a balance between a protein kinase and the type 1 protein phosphatase (PP1) coded for in the GLC7 gene. The centromeric DNA-binding activity is not so regulated.

Article Abstract:
The chromosomes get wrongly attached to the microtubules due to the lack of sufficient tension between the sister chromatids. The phosphorylation of a checkpoint protein Mad3p by Ipl1protein kinase is essential for restoring the kinetochore tension and correction of chromosome binding to microtubules.
