Conjugal TOL transfer from Pseudomonas putin to Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Effects of restriction proficiency, toxicant exposure, cell density ratios, and conjugation detection method on observed transfer efficiencies

Article Abstract:

The effect of restriction proficiency and premating exposure to toxicants on conjugal transfer of the TOL plasmid between Pseudomonas spp. by the examinations of filter matings was investigated. The restriction proficiency provides a strong barrier to interspecfic transfer of the TOL plasmid, and this barrier was only marginally attenuated by recipient exposure to toxicants within the range examined.

Plasmid introduction in metal-stressed, subsurface-derived microcosms: plasmid fate and community response

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate conjugal plasmid transfer and survival in low-carbon-flux, metal-stressed subsurface biotic communities. Data indicate that the ability of the biotic community to capture the plasmids is associated with its ability to retain the plasmids after cointroduction of an exogenous conjugal plasmid.
