Conditional expression of Mycobacterium smegmatis ftsZ, an essential cell division gene

Article Abstract:

Research shows that the cell division in mycobacteria is sensitive to the intracellular concentrations of FtsZ protein and the protein is essential for the cell division process in Mycobacterium smegmatis. However, results reveal that heterologous FtsZ can replace M. smegmatis FtsZ for initiating the cell division.

Identification of the putrescine biosynthetic genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and characterization of agmatine deiminase and N-carbamoylputrescine amidohydrolase of the argine decarboxylase pathway

Article Abstract:

Results show that two genes speA and speC in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 code for arginine decarboxylase and ornithine decarboxylase, respectively. They exhibit similar activities and mediate putrescine biosynthesis directly by the latter and indirectly by the former enzyme.

Article Abstract:

This article clarifies the interpretation of the research results on the chitin synthase 3 activity in yeast mutants. Overexpression of CHS4 enzyme leads to an increase in the enzyme activity. The enzyme is extractable by detergents and is non-zymogenic.
