Complete lack of NF-(kappa)B activity in IKK1 and IKK2 double-deficient mice: aditional defect in neurulation

Article Abstract:

NF-(kappa)B activity has been found to be entirely absent in IKK1 and IKK2 double-deficient mice and an additional defect in neurulation was seen. The mice lacking these critical kinases died at E12. Data suggest the kinases, induced by stress, pathogens, and cytokines, are needed for NF-(kappa)B activation in vivo and are important in protecting neurons against apoptosis during development.

Disruption of the ARF-Mdm2-p53 tumor suppressor pathway in Myc-induced lymphomagenesis

Article Abstract:

It has been shown that p53 and ARF potentiate Myc-induced apoptosis in primary pre-B-cell cultures. Spontaneous inactivation of the ARF-Mdm2-p53 pathway is frequent in tumors in E-mu-myc transgenic mice. Myc activation selects strongly for spontaneous inactivation of the ARF-Mdm2-p53 pathway in vivo. It cancels the protective checkpoint function and speeds progress to malignancy.

The pims and outs of survival signaling: role for the Pim-2 protein kinase in the suppression of apoptosis by cytokines

Article Abstract:

The authors analyzes the study on cell survival regulation. The topics of interest include the role of serine/threonine kinase Pim-2 in growth factor-mediated apoptotic resistance in hematopoeitic cells.
