Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that Pseudoalteromonas tunicata competes effectively with other marine bacterial isolates during biofilm formation from marine plants in repeated sampling and based on the production of the potent antibacterial protein (AlpP) by this species is investigated. The results suggest that micro-colony formation might represent one adaptive strategy that increases the ability of bacteria to persist in mixed-species biofilms under competitive biofilm formation conditions.

Article Abstract:
A report suggests that cell death during biofilm development of Pseudoalteromonas tunicata is involved in key processes of importance to survival and spread of bacterial biofilms within the environment. The findings on variation in colonization traits of dispersal cells suggest that the self-lysis in microcolony biofilms increases the ability of other cells to disperse from within biofilms and colonize new surfaces.

Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to examine the reproducible pattern of cell death in Pseudoalteronmonas tunicata which is a green-pigmented bacterium. The involvement of autotoxic protein used in this killing process is discussed.
