Comparative assessment of virulence traits in Legionella sp.
Article Abstract:
Results reveal that the non-pathogenic group II strains of legionellae, exhibiting low cytopathogenecisty, can not replicate within macrophages, lack pore-forming capability, and inability to induce apoptosis. On the contrary, the pathogenic group I possesses all the above characteristics. However, there is no correlation between cytopathogenicity and the virulence traits.

Phycobiliprotein genes of the marine photosynthetic prokaryote Prochlorococcus: evidence for rapid evolution of genetic heterogeneity
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the Prochlorococcus, a photosynthetic prokaryote in nutrient-limited ocean environments and the participant in the global carbon cycle. The genetic change pathways and the rates in this phototroph have been investigated in assessing its response to the environmental changes.

Role of biofilms in the survival of Legionella pneumophila in a model potable-water system
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the Legionella pneumophila. The ability of this bacteria to survive in the potable-water biofilm without the association with Hertmannella vermiformis has been investigated and reported.
