Common degradative pathways of morpholine, thiomorpholine, and piperidine by Mycobacterium aurum MO1: evidence from (super 1)H-nuclear magnetic resonance and ionspray mass spectrometry performed directly on the incubation medium
Article Abstract:
Mycobacterium aurum can degrade nitrogen heterocyclic compounds, as illustrated by the degradation of piperidine. Heterocyclic compounds are common industrial organic pollutants.

Long-range (super 1)H-(super 15)H heteronuclear shift correlation at natural abundance: a tool to study benzothiazole biodegradation by two Rhodococcus strains
Article Abstract:
Researchers used (super 1)H NMR to show that Rhodococcus biodegrades benzothiazole and 2-hydroxybenzothiazole to 2,6-dihydroxybenzothiazole. Benzothiazoles are industrial chemicals that are toxic and hard to degrade.

Metabolism of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole by Rhodococcus rhodochrous
Article Abstract:
Studies of the biotransformation of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) by Rhodococcus rhodochrous OBT18, isolated by De Wever from activated sludge from a wastewater treatment plant of an MBT-producing factory are reported. This is the first report, which shows that MBT is potentially degradable by a pure culture and that the enzymatic equipment of R. rhodochrous OBT18 could operate under some environmental conditions.
