Phylogenetic diversity among geographically dispersed Chlamydiales endosymbionts recovered from clinical and environmental isolates of Acanthamoeba spp

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Chlamydiales. Morphologic and phylogenic analyses of the isolates of Chlamydiales endosymbionts that naturally infect Acanthamoeba sp. tropozoites are presented.

Phylogenetic analysis of and oligonucleotide probe development for Eikelboom type 021N filamentous bacteria isolated from buling activated sludge

Article Abstract:

Researchers discovered a surprising genetic diversity among 15 filamentous strains of Eikelboom type 021N bacteria in activated sludges. The bacteria could be divided into three distinct groups within the gamma subclass of Proteobacteria based on comparative 16S ribosomal DNA sequence analysis.

Combined molecular and conventional analyses of nitrifying bacterium diversity in activate sludge: Nitrosococcus mobilis and Nitrospira-like bacteria as dominant populations

Article Abstract:

The most important species of nitrifying bacteria present in activated sludge in an industrial sewage treatment plant has been identified. Bacterial diversity was studied through fluorescent in situ hybridization, sequence analysis of amoA gene sequences and characterization of the dominant ammonia oxidizer population. Results indicate that Nitrospira-like bacteria accounted to almost 9% of the total bacterial count and frequently existed in coaggregated microcolonies with Nitrosococcus mobilis.
