Article Abstract:
Different species of Aspergillus can be distinguished using DNA sequences of the ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2 region, restriction fragment length polymorphisms, and secondary metabolite profiles. These techniques were used to conclusively determine that A. japonicus and A. aculeatus are two species.

Article Abstract:
Aspergillus vadensis, which is new specie of black aspergilli, was evaluated for its capability as a host for generating homologous and heterologus protein. The effectiveness of Aspergillus vadensis to generate and modify the protoplast is much more than that compared with those of A, niger.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the expression of genes encoding enzymes involved in xylan degradation and two endoglucanases involved in cellulose degradation at the mRNA level in the fungus Aspergillus niger. Findings showed that the transcriptional activator XlnR regulates the transcription of three genes encoding the xylanolytic enzymes. XlnR activated the transcription of two endoglucanase-encoding genes, eglA and eglB, indicating that transcriptional regulation by XlnR goes beyond the genes encoding xylanolytic enzymes.
