Color-blindness in Calabria (southern Italy): a north-south decreasing trend

Article Abstract:

Occurrence of color-blindness in Calabria, Italy, is examined, focusing on the region's Albanian and Grecanican ethnic minorities in addition to its indigenous population. Findings indicate that Calabria can be considered a genetic isolates mixture, with Albanians exhibiting a color-blindness frequency of 7.40% to a 5.25% rate for the indigenous sample.

Frequency of twinning in two Costa Rican ethnic groups: an update

Article Abstract:

This article examines gene frequencies in two Costa Rican ethnic groups with similar rates of twin births. Findings indicate that there are significant differences in gene frequencies between the ethnic groups and that a similarity in twinning rates may be more influenced by environmental than genetic factors.

Beta-A globin gene haplotypes in Mexican Huichols: genetic relatedness to other populations

A study of the beta globin gene haplotypes in the Huichol population of western Mexico has been conducted. Huichols are closest to Native Americans, followed by Pacific Islanders and Asians.
