Restriction-site-specific PCR as a rapid test to detect enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains in environmental samples
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the food-borne pathogen enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7. The development of the test to detect this pathogen is described.

Prevalence, antibiotic susceptibility, and diversity of Escherichia coli O157:H7 isolates from a longitudinal study of beef cattle feedlots
Article Abstract:
Researchers discovered antibiotic-resistant strains of E. coli O157:H7 in fecal samples from four beef cattle feedlots but few isolates were resistant to more than one drug. No difference in drug resistance was found between the feedlot and the animal hospital where sick animals are treated with antibiotics.

Colonization of Arabidopsis thaliana with Salmonella enterica and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7 and competition by Enterobacter asburiae
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on enteric pathogens Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Salmonella enterica which contaminate fresh produce. The study of the plant responses to human pathogens has been carried out via the use of Arabidopsis thaliana as a model system, and the results demonstrate that S. enterica and E. coli grow on the roots and shoots of A. thaliana in a gnotobiotic system.
