Cloning of determinants encoding F165(2) fimbriae from porcine septicaemic Escherichia coli confirms their identity as F1C fimbriae

Article Abstract:

The F165(2) fimbriae-encoding genetic determinant that is cloned from porcine Escherichia coli wild-type strain 4787 chromosome is an S Foc family member. Anti-F165 and anti-F1C polyclonal sera reveal the expression of a 17-kDa fimbrial protein subunit in the clone F165(2) and the wild-type operon. The major subunit gene f165(2)A codes for an 156-amino acid-mature protein while the minor subunit genes F, G and H code for 148-, 145- and 276 amino acid-proteins. The F165(2)A protein differs from the F1C major subunit protein at the first-position, except for which they are both identical.

Binding to sulfatide and enterotoxicity of various Escherichia coli STb mutants

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the amino acid polypeptide of the heat-stable Escherichia coli enterotoxin b. The role of the selected amino acids in the enterotoxicity and the involvement of these amino acids in the interactions of enterotoxin b with the functional receptor sulfatide have been investigated.

Effect of carbon starvation and proteolytic activity on stationary-phase acid tolerance of Streptococcus mutants

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Streptococcus mutants. The ability of the fresh isolates and laboratory strains to survive the stationary-phase acid tolerance response rest has been investigated and the results are reported.
