Cloning of a creatinase gene from Pseudomonas putida in Escherichia coli by using an indicator plate

Article Abstract:

An alternative strategy to screen large numbers of transformants for creatinase activity was developed. The procedure involves the coculture of transformants with Proteus mirabilis to utilize its urea-hydrolyzing ability as an inducer of color change in indicator plates. The procedure was used to screen an Pseudomonas putida NTU-8 genomic library, resulting in the isolation of a 2.7-kb DNA fragment coding for creatinase activity.

Engineering of solvent-tolerant Pseudomonas putida S12 for bioproduction of phenol from glucose

Article Abstract:

An entirely biobased production process for the conversion of a renewable substrate (glucose) into the toxic bulk chemical phenol via the central metabolite tyrosine is achieved in the solvent-tolerant strain Pseudomonas putida S12. The method results in accumulation of 58 mM phenol in the octanol phase and there is a twofold increase in the overall production compared to a single-phase fed batch.

Chromosomal locus for cadmium resistance in Pseudomonas putida consisting of a cadmium-transporting ATPase and a MerR family response regulator

Article Abstract:

Pseudomonas putida contains two proteins that confer resistance to cadmium. CadA is similar to cadmium-transporting ATPases in gram-positive bacteria and CadR is similar to the MerR family involved in mercury detoxification. CadA is induced by cadmium, lead, and zinc whereas CadR is only induced by cadmium.
