Cloning and physical mapping of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) telomeric sequences

Article Abstract:

The hypothesis that telomeric sequences are almost totally lost during Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) chromosome fusion events seems to be supported by data. DNA containing telomeric sequences from the salmon has been cloned and sequenced. A cloned probe binds only at extreme termini, and not at interstitial sites, in both low- and high-stringency conditions

This article presents a complete sequence of 5S rRNA gene in sturgeon species along with a detailed karyotype analysis. Data are discussed in the context of polyploidization and Acipenser sturio's evolution within Acipenseridae.

This article researches meiotic behaviour in a tetraploid somatic hybrid of Citrus and its fusion parents. Germinability and stainability of fertile pollen with different ploidy levels are examined.
