Article Abstract:
Research reveals that phospholipase B1secreted by Candida albicans enables the bacterium to travel through gastrointestinal tract and spread haematogenously, supporting the enzyme's role in the infection process.

Article Abstract:
The effect of surface modifications of polyetherurethane, polycarbonateurethane, and poly(ethyleneterephthalate) (PET) on the formation of the fungal biofilm is investigated. The analysis shows that surface modification is a viable approach for identifying surfaces that have antibiofilm characteristics.

Article Abstract:
Cloning of a candidal gene encoding a lipase may help in determining its role in the virulence of the pathogenic fungus, Candida albicans. A complementation strategy was utilized to clone candidal lipases employing Saccharomyces cerevisiae which was transformed with Candida albicans genomic library. The lipolytic activity of the transformed organisms was screened using egg-yolk agar assay. Southern and Northern blot analysis were done to detect the presence of homologous sequences in other species and to monitor the expression of the lipase (LIP1) gene.
