Citrate inhibition-resistant form of 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase from Aspergillus niger

Article Abstract:

The effect of citrate and other effectors on activities of both forms of Aspergillus niger 6-phosphofructo-1-kinases after the proteins were purified to a high degree of homogeneity is reported. Evaluation of the results, helped in estimating which form of the enzyme might play the most prominent role in deregulating metabolic flow through glycolysis during the process of citric acid overflow in Aspergillus niger.

Contribution of citrate metabolism to the growth of Lactococcus lactis CRL264 at low pH

Article Abstract:

The effect of citrate on the growth parameters at a very acidic pH value is analyzed with Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis biovar diacetylactis CRL264 and with derivatives whose citrate uptake capacity is genetically manipulated. The studies have shown that increasing the citrate transport capacity of CRL264 is a useful strategy to improve the ability of this strain to cope with strongly acidic conditions.

Posttranslational modification of 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase in Aspergillus niger

Article Abstract:

The posttranslational modification of 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase (PFK1) that leads to significant changes in allosteric regulation of the enzyme activity is described. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of sequential purifications of PFK1 enzymes by affinity chromatography has suggested spontaneous posttranslational modification of the native PFK1 in Aspergillus niger cells.
