Article Abstract:
SPC4, also known as PACE4, regulates a TFD(beta) signaling network in axis formation in the embryo. It has been found that some embryos that lack SPC4 develop situs ambiguus with left pulmonary isomerism or complex craniofacial malformations including cyclopia or both. Interactions between nodal and spc4 together with analysis of chimeric embryos suggest strongly that in A/P axis formation SPC4 acts mainly in the foregut.

Article Abstract:
Recombinant beta--catenin has been found to strongly enhance binding and transactivation by LEF-1 on chromatin templates in vitro. It has been shown that the CT-ARM region of beta-catenin acts as a chromatin-specific activation domain, and that several inhibitors of the Wnt-W pathway directly modulate LEF-1-beta-cat activity on chromatin.

Article Abstract:
Interaction between BMP and FGF signaling pathways controls metanephric mesenchyme development, and a model for regulation of nephrogenesis by FGF and BMP signaling has been developed. BMP7 signaling has been shown to be able to prevent apoptosis in explants of metanephric mesenchyme. Surviving mesenchyme cell population cannot respond to signals that promote tubulogenesis. BMP7 and FGF2 promote expansion of the stromal progenitor cells in whole kidney culture.
