Characterization of carbohydrate-binding cytochrome b562 from the white-rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium

Article Abstract:

cDNA encoding a hemoprotein similar to the cytochrome doman of extracellular flavocytochrome cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) was cloned from the white-rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium. It was suggested that the redox characteristics are similar to those of the cytochrome domain of CDH and so carbohydrate-binding cytochrome b562 (CBCyt. b562) may have an electron transfer function.

Characterization of an exo-beta-1,3-galactanase from Clostridium thermocellum

Article Abstract:

The gene corresponding to the N-terminal glycoside hydrolase family 43 (GH43) module is expressed in Escherichia coli and the gene product is characterized. The results have shown that exo-beta-1,3-galactanases are one of the components of cellulosomes and that the enzymes are widely distributed in nature.

Novel nickel resistance genes from the rhizosphere metagenome of plants adapted to acid mine drainage

Article Abstract:

The rhizosphere of the endemic heather Erica andevalensis growing at the banks of Tinto River were examined for searching genes involved in nickel resistance. Results conclude that 13 different nickel resistance genes and operons from rhizosphere DNA were detected.
