Characterization of an unstable anthocyanin phenotype and estimation of somatic mutation rates in peach

Article Abstract:

Anthocyanin expression and instability were evaluated for peach cultivar Pillar. The heritability of anthocyanin instability, histogenic basis of anthocyanin sectors, and reversion mutation rates were observed in Pillar and showed that an active transposable element permeated the unstable wv2 allele. This result validated the heritability of the anthocyanin phenotype, but did not follow Mendelian genetic patterns for its segregation.

Characterization and inheritance of the Anthocyanin fruit (Aft) tomato

Article Abstract:

Interest in the health benefits and antioxidant capacity of anthocyanins led to examine the genetic potential for increased levels of this important class of phytonutrients in tomato fruit. The symbol Af for Anthocyanin fruit proposes to be changed to Aft, in order to conform to tomato gene nomenclature rules.
