Cell cycle-regulated modification of the ribosome by a variant multiubiquitin chain

Article Abstract:

Modification of ribosomes by a variant multiubiquitin chain and regulated by the cell cycle is discussed. The regulatory role of the muliubiquitin chains seems to be reversible and not to target the acceptor protein for degradation. The substrate found to be in question is now identified as ribosomal protein L28.

IKK(alpha) provides an essential link between RANK signaling and cyclin D1 expression during mammary gland development

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the functions of the IKK(alpha) subunit of I (sub)k B kinase. The generation of the IKK(alpha) (super)AA knockin allele which contains alanines instead of serines in the activation loop has been carried out in identifying these functions and the results are described.

Distinct initiation and maintenance mechanisms cooperate to induce G1 cell cycle arrest in response to DNA damage

Article Abstract:

Certain initiation and maintenance mechanisms cooperate to bring on G1 cell cycle arrest as a response to DNA damage. DNA damage brings an immediate p53-independent end to G1. It is caused by rapid proteolysis of cyclin D1.
