Cdk1-Clb4 controls the interaction of astral microtubule plus ends with sub domains of the daughter cell cortex

Article Abstract:

The cyclin-dependent kinase Cdc28 in complex with Clb4, associates only with the SPB mother cell and so prevents Kar9 binding to this SPB is discussed, and the nonoverexpressed Clb4 associates with the budward-directed SPB through Kar9 is analyzed. It is reported that the Cdc28-Clb4 uses Kar9 as a carrier to move from this SPB to the plus ends of astral microtubules, where it regulates the interactions between microtubules ends and subdomains of the bud cortex.

The role of microtubule actin cross-linking factor 1 (MACF1) in the Wnt signaling pathway

Article Abstract:

A microtubule actin cross-linking factor 1- (MACF-1-) knockout mice, which lack the formation of the primitive streak, node, and mesoderm during gastrulation, is generated. Results indicate that MACF1 is involved in the Wnt signaling pathway and functions as a positive regulator in the translocation of Axin and its associated complex from the cytoplasm to the cell membrane, an indispensable step to transduce signaling upon Wnt stimulation.

Integrin-linked kinase, a novel component of the cardiac mechanical stretch sensor, controls contractility in the zebrafish heart

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that heart failure in mutant main squeeze (msq) mutants is due to a mutation in the integrin-linked kinase (ilk) gene is conducted through positional cloning. The msq mutation (L308P) reduces ILK kinase activity and disrupts binding of ILK to the Z-disc adaptor protein beta-parvin (Affixin).
