Article Abstract:
An analysis of various mechanisms preventing the differentiation-specific genes outside [G.sub.1], wherein the Cdk phosphorylation of the Ste11 transcription factor that triggers sexual differentiation, in fission yeast is studied. The results reveal that the periodic expression of Ste11 and its target genes is highly mediated and facilitated by the Cdk phosphorylation, which is a very essential part of the mechanism restricting differentiation to [G.sub.1].

Article Abstract:
Fission yeast DNA-binding protein (Ddb1), Cullin 4 (Pcu4), and signalosome (CSN) subunits Csn1 and Csn2 are required for degradation of the ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) inhibitor protein. The results obtained from the study carried out suggests that Ddb1, along with Cullin 4 and the signalosome, constitute a major pathway controlling genome stability, repair, and differentiation via RNR regulation.

Article Abstract:
A study to demonstrate that BubR1 is phosphorylated on the Cck1 site T620, which triggers the recruitment of Plk1 and phosphorylation of BubR1 by Plk1 is presented. Results identified the Plk1 as the kinase responsible for causing the characteristic mitotic BubR1 upshift.
