Case study of the distribution of mucosa- associated Bifidobacterium species, Lactobacillus species and other lactic acid bacteria in the human colon
Article Abstract:
The distribution of mucosa- associated bacteria, bifidobacteria and lactobacilli and closely related lactic acid bacteria, in biopsy samples from the ascending, transverse and descending parts of the colon from four individuals are investigated by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresiss (DGGE).

Isolation of a hop-sensitive variant of Lactobacillus lindneri and identification of genetic markers for beer spoilage ability of lactic acid bacteria
Article Abstract:
A hop-sensitive variant of the beer spoilage bacterium Lactobacillus lindneri DSM 20692 is isolated. The wide and exclusive distribution of horB and horC homologs among beer spoilage lactic acid bacteria is acquired through horizontal gene transfer.

Screening of probiotic activities of forty-seven strains of Lactobacillus spp. by in vitro techniques and evaluation of the colonization ability of five selected strains in humans
Article Abstract:
Research is conducted on the comparison of Lactobacillus spp. properties important for the bacteria to survive in human gasrtointestinal tract with their in vivo surviving ability. Results include the study of the 47 probiotic cultures in vitro.
