Article Abstract:
The effects of various carbon sources on the primary structure of mycolic acids (MA) as well as on the cell wall physicochemical properties in an efficient alkane- degrading strain of Rhodococcus erythropolisis are accurately examined. Conclusion states that the permeability of the R. erythropolis cell wall is influenced by the class of carbon source used to support growth.

Article Abstract:
Research reveals that the metabolism of cyclopropanecarboxylate in Rhodococcus rhodochrous follows an oxidative degradation through cyclopropanecarboxyl-CoA and 3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA. Data indicate that the enzymes required for catalyzing formation and ring opening of cyclopropanecarboxyl-CoA are inducible while the other catabolic enzymes are constitutive.

Most horse farms have specific strains of Rhodococcus equi. This organism causes serious disease in foals but the incidence of disease varies on different farms. This is probably due to the vapA gene, which is carried by plasmid.
