Article Abstract:
The use of molecular techniques to assess prokaryotic diversity independent of the need for enrichment culture has profoundly changed the way microbial diversity is studied. Analysis of the geographic locations and habitat types of environmental isolates at the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) showed that there were significant disparities between both locations and habitats that were represented in the culture collection.

Article Abstract:
An investigation is conducted on the microbial diversity and abundance in ultra-high-pressure (UHP) rocks from depths 529 to 2,026 m by culture dependent and independent approaches. The results suggest that there is a unique microbial community in the deep rocks and geological fluids, and the measured and inferred functions of close sequences are consistent with the geochemical environments.

Article Abstract:
The geographical distribution and diversity of the bacteria associated with natural populations of Drosophila melanogaster is being described. The analysis shows no relationship between the species richness and several other abiotic factors, including temperature and latitude.
