Capsular polysaccharide phase variation in Vibrio vulnificus

Article Abstract:

The consistency of capsular polysaccharide (CPS) conversion is determined for four strains of Vibrio vulnificus. Results reveal that all conditions, with the exception of variations in media and oxidative stress, significantly affected the conversion of the population, with high ranges of CPS expression found even within cells from a single colony.

Multilocus sequence analysis reveals that Vibrio harveyi and V. campbellii are distinct species

Article Abstract:

The development of the first standard multilocus sequence scheme focused on the ubiquitous and pathogenic Vibrio harveyi species group is discussed. Findings reveal that the strains of the same species share at least 95 percent concatenated sequence similarity using the seven loci.

Vibrio harveyi nitroreductase is also a chromate reductase

Article Abstract:

The authors describe the study of Vibrio harveyi and Escherichia coli nitroreductases. They report that these nitroreductases are also efficient in chromate reduction.
