Canine models of ocular disease: outcross breedings define a dominant disorder present in the English mastiff and bull mastiff dog breeds

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on progressive retinal atropies common to both man and dogs. The authors suggest that the genetic origin of this disease is breed specific in dogs, and illustrate that outcross breeding circumvents the problems associated with the study of the disease within a population.

Exclusion of melanocortin-I receptor (McIr) and Agouti as candidates for dominant black in dogs

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on molecular biology of dog pigmentation. The authors describe their study of molecular genetics of dominant black, and suggest that this coat color characteristics is caused by variations either in melanocortin-I receptor gene or in the Agouti gene.

A first assessment of genetic variation in Welwitschia mirabilis hook

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Welwitschia mirabilis. The phylogeographic study of W. mirabilis has been carried out via the analysis of genetic variation between and within different locations in Namibia using random amplified polymorphic markers.
