Candidate gene analysis of thyroid hormone receptors in metamorphosing vs. nonmetamorphosing salamanders

Article Abstract:

Candidate gene analysis has been carried out in metamorphosing salamander thyroid hormone receptors (TRs). The hypothesis was that TR variation is associated with alternate life cycles modes in ambystomatid salamanders. It does not appear that TRs are candidate loci in maintenance or evolution in the past of alternate life cycle modes in the tiger salamander complex.

Variation in cytochrome-c oxidase activity is not maternally inherited in the copepod Tigriopus californicus

Article Abstract:

Variation in cytochrome-c oxidase (COX) activity in the copepod Tigriopus californicus is discussed, noting this variation is not maternally inherited. Evidence for a genetic component to COX enzymatic activity variation exists.

Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation in Ixodes pacificus (Acari: Ixodidae)

Article Abstract:

The article describes the genetic structure of the western black-legged tick, Ixodes pacificus. Mitochondrial DNA haplotype differentiation between a population of Utah ticks and all populations of I. pacificus was discovered.
