Article Abstract:
In vitro and in vivo adherence and colonization assays are performed with Campylobacter jejuni clinical strain (F38011) and Campylobacter jejuni strain recovered from a chicken (02-833L) in order to understand the bacterium-host cell interactions. Campylobacter jejuni strains have competed for colonization in chicks and a novel intervention strategy is designed for reducing the level at which these strains colonizes the cecum.

Article Abstract:
A biofilm assay was used to investigate the mechanism required for Campylobacter jejuni biofilm formation on abiotic surfaces. Campylobacter jejuni biofilm formation was observed to be inhibited by growth in nutrient-rich media or high osmolarity and thermophilic and microaerophilic conditions have enhanced biofilm formation.

Article Abstract:
The role of Finnish cattle as a potential reservoir for thermophilic campylobacters and a source of antibiotic-resistant Campylobacter jejuni is elucidated which revealed that prevalence of campylobacters in Finnish cattle at slaughter is low and carcass contamination is rare.
