CKI and CKII mediate the FREQUENCY-dependent phosphorylation of the WHITE COLLAR complex to close the Neurospora circadian negative feedback loop

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that the disruption of the interaction between FREQUENCY (FRQ) and CK-1a (a casein kinase 1 homolog) results in the hypophosphorylation of FRQ, WC-1, and WC-2 is presented. The results suggest that CKI and CKII, in addition to being the FRQ kinases, mediate the FRQ-dependent phosphorylation of WCs, which inhibit their activity and close the circadian negative feedback loop.

Molecular mechanism of temperature sensing by the circadian clock of Neurospora crassa

Article Abstract:

Circadian clock of Neurospora crassa is used to study temperature sensing on organisms like plant, fungi and animals. Circadian clocks are cellular oscillators that organize temporal expressions of large number of genes and hence, study becomes easy as biochemical processes are generally temperature dependent.
