Breed differences in allele frequency of the dopamine receptor D4 gene in dogs

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of a polymerase chain reaction to investigate the diversity of the DRD4 gene in the beagle, Shetland sheepdog, golden retriever and shiba breeds of dog. The polymorphism of DRD4 is discussed.

Celadon: an eggshell color mutation in Japanese quail

Article Abstract:

A glossy pale blue colored eggshell mutation in the Japanese quail is reported. The phenotype is called celadon and the proposed terminology is ce. The trait was demonstrated to be regulated by a recessive autosomal gene independent of the recessive gene controlling for white eggshell. The ce shells contain biliverdin and protophorphyrin pigments similar to those found in the speckled wild-type shell but in much reduced amounts.
