Article Abstract:
An E2 complex from human cells conditionally expressing HPV-11 E2 is isolated to identify cellular proteins involved in E2-mediated transcriptional repression. The double bromodomain-containing protein Brd4, which is implicated in cell cycle control and viral genome segregation, was found associated with E2 and conferred on E2 the ability to inhibit AP-1-dependent HPV chromatin transcription in an E2-binding site-specific manner as illustrated by in vitro repression of HPV transcription.

Article Abstract:
The RSC 15-subunit chromatin-remodeling complex of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was isolated and analyzed by mass spectrometric and limited peptide sequencing techniques. The RSC protein composed three subunits that are more homologous to human SWI/SNF components compared to yeasts SWI/SNF components. Furthermore, the adenosine triphosphate-dependent chromatin remodelling activities of RSC and SWI/SNF are activated by single-stranded or double-stranded nucleosomal deoxyribonucleic acid.

Article Abstract:
Mesenchymal-to-epithelial conversion in metanephros of rats, brought on by leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), is discussed. Ureteric bud cell lines (UB cells) were developed to serve as a surrogate for the embryonic ureteric bud. UB cells were found to secrete several additional factors that trigger the conversion in the presence of mesenchymal growth factors. Nephrons are formed. IL-6 cytokines are candidate regulators of mesenchymal-to-epithelial conversion in kidney development.
