Biotransformation of natural and synthetic isoflavonoids by two recombinant microbial enzymes
Article Abstract:
The authors have investigated isoflavonoids synthesized in the laboratory. The ability of Burkholderia sp. strain's biphenyl-2,3-dioxygenase and biphenyl-2,3-dihydrodiol 2,3-dehydrogenase to biotransform these isoflavonoids has been tested via the use of recombinant Escherichia coli strains containing plasmid vectors which express Burkholderia sp. strain's genes, and the details are reported.

Phenotypic changes resulting from distinct point mutations in the Azospirillum brasilense glnA gene, encoding glutamine synthetase
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Azospirillum brasilense glutamine synthetase mutants. The authors have demonstrated that the sequencing of mutants' glnA genes have resulted in the corresponding to the glutamate site Arg (approaches) Cys mutation in one mutant, and the corresponding to the ammonium binding site Asp (approaches) Asn mutation in the other mutant.

Isolation and characterization of NaCl-sensitive mutants of Caulobacter crescentus
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Caulobacter crescentus genes which are important in the response to high concentrations of NaCl. The authors have isolated mutants defective in survival in the presence of NaCl in the effort to characterize C. crescentus genes, and they have presented the results.
