Article Abstract:

The study of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) will help to accurately describe and predict how signal transduction pathways function in both normal and diseased cells and once perfected it will change the way biological research is conducted. The EGFR system is thus a model for understanding basic receptor biochemistry and provides important lessons for the transition to systems biology as well, especially in research in the field of immunology and metabolism.
