Biodiversity, community structural shifts, and biogeography of prokaryotes within Antarctic continental shelf sediment

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on prokaryotes from Antarctic continental shelf area. The authors describe their study of the prokaryotic diversity and community structural changes within the surficial sediment core carried out via the use of 16S ribosomal DNA clone library analysis.

Real-time PCR for simultaneous detection and quantification of Borrelia burgdorferi in field-collected Ixodes scapularis ticks from the northeastern United States

Article Abstract:

The authors have investigated Borrelia burgdorferi. The use of real-time PCR protocol for the study of B. burgdorferi-specific gene for the detection and quantification of the Lyme disease spirochete in field-collested Ixodes scapularis ticks is described.

Alternative splicing of transcripts from ctrI and ctrYB genes of Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous

Article Abstract:

The authors have studied Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous strain UCD 67-385. They have cloned the unexpected cDNA obtained from the strain's ctrI and ctrYB and ctrYB genes' RNAs could be spliced in alternative splice sites.
