Article Abstract:
The fungal cultures of Penicillium corylophilum Dierks were utilized to characterize the mechanisms that mediate the biodegradation of glyceryl trinitrate (GTN). Nonpathogenic fungal cultures of Penicillium corylophilum promoted the denitration of GTN to produce a mixture of GDN and GMN. The GTN denitration process also promoted a significant increase in the biomass content of the fungal culture. Furthermore, the presence of ammonium nitrate enhanced the complete denitration of GMN by Penicillium corylophilum Dierck.

Article Abstract:
The toxic effects of pentachlorophenol (PCP) on both developing and mature fungal mats in stationaryliquid cultures under both nitrogen-sufficient and -deficient conditions are discussed. Six species of white rot fungi were tested. High-performance liquidchromatography was used to measure PCP. It was found that one of the six species examined might be the best choice for soil and bioreactors inoculation.

Article Abstract:
Experiments are performed to evaluate the efficiency of three portable air samplers used in monitoring airborne fungi. The air samplers, namely the RCS Plus, Burkard portable and SAS Super 90, are used in collecting 100-liter samples at five sites. Comparisons with the Andersen two-stage impactor indicate that the Burkard portable outperforms the other two air samplers with respect to efficiency.
