Article Abstract:
A study was done on the enzyme activities of control and test paedomorphs which were forced to metamorphose with thyroxine. These species of the Arizona tiger salamander show that the four of the six enzyme activities were affected by the administration of thyroxine and that the activities of products of duplicate loci are altered to different degrees. Furthermore, these enzyme activities are also influenced by changes in laboratory conditions.

Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that a single-gene difference explains life-history pathway differences between paedomorphic versus metamorphic species of ambystomatids was negated following an examination of the expression of life-history pathway among a backcross family of hybrid ambystomatids. The prediction of equal segregation at a single locus was contradicted when non-Mendelian ratios were found overall.

Article Abstract:
Facultative paedomorphosis is an environmentally induced polymorphism that results in the coexistence of mature, gilled, and fully aquatic paedomorphic adults and transformed, terrestrial, metamorphic adults in the same population. Further research on facultative paedomorphosis would provide needed insight into the important questions facing biologists.
