Biocatalytic conversion of avermectin to 4'-oxo-avermectin: Improvement of cytochrome P450 monooxygenase specificity by directed evolution
Article Abstract:
The development of a cytochrome P450 oxidases (CYP) enzyme with highly improved substrate regiospecificity that can be employed for the biocatalytic conversion of avermectin to 4'-oxo-avermectin is discussed. Enzyme variants with significantly improved specificity for the production of 4'-oxo-avermectin were identified as process consisting of four successive rounds of GeneReassembly evolution.

Lactic acid bacteria as a potential source of enzymes for use in vinification
Article Abstract:
Studies done on the potential of LAB as a source of enzymes that could improve wine quality and complexity are presented. The results of the study demonstrate that these organisms possess an extensive collection of enzymatic activities, many of which have the potential to influence wine composition and therefore the processing, organoleptic properties, and quality of wine.

Characterization of a thermostable L-arabinose (D-galactose) isomerase from the hyperthermophilic eubacterium Thermotoga maritima
Article Abstract:
The biochemical characterization of L-arabinose isomerase(AI) from T. maritima is described. The comparison of its mesophilic counterparts and the role of divalent metal ions, in the activity and thermal stability of this enzyme are also examined.
