Article Abstract:
The development of certain pathogenic species of Bacillus and Clostridium for intoxicating cells that employ the classic enzymatic 'A-B' paradigm for protein toxins are detailed. The difference between each in terms of biochemistry, biology, genetics, structure and applications in science and medicine give a better understanding of a conserved intoxication process utilized by various gram-positive spore-forming bacteria.

Article Abstract:
The structures and functions of D-alanyl-TAs (teichoic acids), the D-alanylation system encoded by the dlt operon, and the roles of TAs in cell growth are reviewed. It reveals that studies of mechanism of D-alanylation have identified two potential targets of antibacterial action and provided possible screening reactions for designing novel agents targeted to D-alanyl-TA synthesis.

The study focuses on how the export of large proteins occurs across the outer membrane. It is further focusing on understanding, how this bilayer can retard the entry of lipophilic compounds, owing to our increasing knowledge about the chemistry of lipopolysaccharide from diverse organisms and the way in which lipopolysaccharide structure is modified by environmental conditions.
