Research has been conducted on the bacteriophages which modify microbial communities by lysing hosts, transferring genetic material and effecting lysogenic conversion. The effect of these bacteriophages on the natural communities has been investigated via predictive models development.

Research has been conducted on the global database application to the research in microbial biodiversity and biogeochemistry. The development of a prototype database which maps microbial diversity in the geographic location and geochemical and geological environment is described.
