Bacterial community structure in the hyperarid core of the Atacama Desert, Chile

Article Abstract:

Analysis of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) profiles from each of the samples revealed that microbial communities from extreme hyperarid core of the desert clustered separately from all of the remaining communities. Presence of similar populations dominated by bacteria from the Gemmatimanadetes and Planctomycetes phyla are revealed in band sequenced from DGGE profiles of samples from core region.

Impacts of cultivation of marine diatoms on the associated bacterial community

Article Abstract:

The observation of the composition of bacterial communities associated with four diatom species during isolation and cultivation of algal cells showed strong shifts in the associated communities, linked with an increase in the numbers of phylotypes belonging to members of the Gammaproteobacteria.

Factors influencing expression of luxCDABE and nah genes in Pseudomonas putida RB1353 (NAH7, pUTK9) in dynamic systems

Article Abstract:

Cell growth stage, cell density, substrate concentration, oxygen tension, and background carbon substrates can affect the nah operon promoters in Pseudomonas putida. This in turn regulates their luminescence and degradation of environmental contaminants.
