Bacterial communities associated with flowering plants of the Ni hyperaccumulator thlaspi goesingense

Article Abstract:

The rhizosphere and shoot-associated bacteria belonging colonizing T.goesingense are characterized in detail by using both cultivation and cultivation-independent techniques. The findings indicate that highly diverse microbial communities live in association with the Ni hyperaccumulator T.goesingense and can withstand the high heavy metal concentrations.

Sulfate-reducing bacteria in floating macrophyte rhizospheres from an Amazonian floodplain lake in Bolivia and their association with Hg methylation

Article Abstract:

A study examined the presence and distribution of six sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) subgroups associated with four floating macrophyte rhizospheres in the oxbow lake La Granja. The SRB community varied according to the macrophyte species but with different degrees of association with their roots.

Nitrite elimination and hydrolytic ring cleavage in 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (pictric acid) degradation

Article Abstract:

Two hydrogenation reactions in the initial steps of degradation of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol produce the dihydride meisenheimer complex of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol. A hydrolase was purified from strain FJ2-1A and shown to cleave 2,4-dinitrocyclohexanone hydrolytically to 4,6-dinitrohexanoate.
