BMP signaling mediated by ALK2 in the visceral endoderm is necessary for the generation of primordial germ cells in the mouse embryo
Article Abstract:
The omission of different bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) along with their downstream Smads in mice distinctly indicates that BMP signaling is important for the development of primordial germ cells. However, it is displayed that the BMP4 generated in the extraembryonic ectoderm indicates from ALK2, the first form of BMP receptor, in the visceral endoderm (VE) to introduce the development of PGCs from epiblast.

DNA methylation regulates long-range gene silencing of an X-linked homeobox gene cluster in a lineage-specific manner
Article Abstract:
The DNA methylation has regulated the cell lineage-specific silencing of the X-linked homeobox gene cluster Rhox in the post-implantation development of mice. The analysis of DNA methylation has indicated that it plays major roles in both long-range gene silencing and lineage-specific silencing in embryogenesis.

A charge-based interaction between histone H4 and Dot1 is required for H3K79 methylation and telomere silencing: Identification of a new trans-histone pathway
Article Abstract:
Key insights into the mechanism of Dot1 histone methylation are presented. It is found that Dot1 requires histone H4 for in vitro methytransferase activity and the histone H4 tail for Dot1-mediated methylation in yeast.
