Axon guidance molecules

Article Abstract:

A multifactorial approach is used to explain the nature and mechanism of axon guidance molecules in target recognition. One model explains the role of chemoattractants such as netrins as an important guidance mechanism. Another model proposes that netrins also influence the selection of the direction of growth cone development by a chemorepulsive mechanism.

Pars, PI 3-kinase and the establishment of neuronal polarity

Article Abstract:

The author comments on the studies of the protein complex which consists of mPar3, mPar6 and atypical proteins kinase C. The topics of interest include selective localization of the complex to the cultured hippocampal neurons' anoxal growth cone.

Regulating axon branch stability; the role of p190 RhoGAP in repressing a retraction signaling pathway

Article Abstract:

The axon stability is mediated by p190 Rho GTpase activating protein as indicated by axon branch retraction following p190 inactivation. Data suggest that a retraction pathway from RhoA to myosin in maturing neurons is repressed by p190.
